Some Sundaes can be a near religious experience.
Or anti-religious experience depending who you ask.
It would seem ludicrous that a double dip of ice cream with your favorite sauce, nuts, and whipped cream could interfere with one's own inner unity, one's own touch to the outter reaches of spirituality, or just making sure you get to church on time.
The origin of the sundae, according to some mythology, comes from a rather religious mind set whose local laws prohibited the sales of ice cream sodas on sunday. Consisting of ice cream, soda, and a flavor syrup, the ice cream soda merely contributed to the overall distraction of society on holy days.
Being a creative and entrepreneurial set, ice cream shops sold ice cream sodas without the soda. By simply pouring flavor syrup over ice cream, they were able to keep their sales up on sundays and still act within the constraints of the law.
In order to avoid offending the more pious members of local government, these shop owners changed the spelling of the name of their new invention from "Sunday" to "Sundae". You can see how much difference a single letter can make.
MaggieMudd has a wide variety of sundaes for every taste. If you're in the mood for mint, try our Mint Condition. For something with coffee, try the MoKa sundae. And of course, we have good old fashioned banana splits, with two scoops of ice cream, topping, whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry.
We also have vegan sundaes made out of our home made dairy-free ice cream and vegan toppings. We even have vegan waffle cones.
